Deliquent post

We have been so busy!  I know you would all like to hear what we've been up to, so here it goes, in no particular order...

We enjoyed Easter up in Philly with Steve's parents.  We had an inside Easter egg hunt and an outside one.  Jared loves picking up the eggs, saying "egg-gee!", and putting them into his basket.  What a cutie!  Jared had some fun playing with some (model) airplanes too, flying them around the house and stuff.  It was really hard to find him a toy airplane, but I think we found a more suitable airplane for him.

Jared also got his first baby doll, which he was very excited about. Hopefully, this doll can be "Jared's Baby."  At first, he wasn't such a good parent, bending the baby in half the wrong way, but by naptime, they were both snuggling in the crib together.

Jared got his first temporary tattoo the other day.  He keeps poking at it, and is very confused why it is still on his arm. :)

I officially stopped nursing Jared a couple of weeks ago, and he didn't even seem to notice.  He wasn't getting much out of it, other than some cuddle time.  It is kinda sad for me, but I appreciate the few months rest before I go all-out nursing again.

We had our housewarming party a couple of weeks ago for a bunch of local folks.  Counting us, there were 43 people here throughout the afternoon!  Good thing we have a really big driveway!  Considering that we are pretty rookie entertainers, I think it went well.  So well in fact, that we got a huge curveball thrown at us the morning of the party, and I think we recovered quite well.  It was about 11 AM (the party started at 2 PM), and Steve noticed that there was a little bit of water coming in below our basement door.  Unfortunately, he did what many of us would do, and opened the door to see what was going on, and a whole lot of water came into the basement!  It had been pouring rain all morning, and our gutters were clogged in just the right spot that it was overflowing right into the bottom of the outside steps down into our basement, overwhelming the drain.  After a little while, I got the drain running again (slightly clogged), and the sump pump took over and things were mostly okay, except the water in our basement.  Luckily, our great friend came by with her daughter to play with Jared while Steve and I cleaned the basement.  We only lost a little over an hour in the prep time, and luckily our early guests didn't mind helping to finish setting up the party.  The ironic part is that the weather was beautiful all week and the following day, but the day of the party, the weather was awful!  On a good note, while Jared was not happy to find 20 people downstairs when he woke up from his nap, he eventually warmed up, and ran laps around the house, giving people high 5's.  One of the little girls went to "hug" Jared, which involved leaning into him, like little kids do.  But Jared didn't know what to do, so he just stood there until she eventually pushed him over, it was so funny! :)  Steve borrowed a neighbor's ladder and cleaned out our gutters of all of these tiny seed pod things, so hopefully we'll be good for a while.

Our neighborhood had an Easter egg hunt, which was really nice.  Steve and I were hoping that Jared would just get 1 or 2 eggs, but he ended up with 14!!  They had a separate area for the little kids, which had a lot of eggs out in the open.  After about 3 eggs, he took the basket away from me, and went on quite a tear picking up eggs.  It is the cutest thing to see this small person yelling out "egg-gee!" repeatedly while picking up Easter eggs.  It actually brought a tear to my eye, but I'm pregnant, and everything makes me cry.

Jared is saying a bunch of words now!  Many involve animal sounds and food items.  He says Elmo and calls himself Meee, since he can't say his own name.  He loves going to the playground and seeing the animals at our local 4-H farm.   He even went to the Piglet Party with my parents to celebrate all 14 of the new piglets!  He loves digging in the yard and in the sand at our local beach.  He loves to Skype with his Grandparents, if you can get him to stay in the camera for very long.

I'm about halfway done with the pregnancy, and the good 2nd trimester feelings are going strong.  My belly is starting to stretch, so that gets sore, but overall, I'm feeling really good.  The last ultrasound is next week, and that is always exciting to see the baby moving around.  We're still determined not to find out the baby's gender.

Steve is in 3 soccer leagues now, which I imagine will decrease in the fall with the new baby.

We've been really busy visiting and getting settled into our new place, but we are really enjoying where we live and our new house.  Enjoy the new pictures in the new 21 to 24 month folder!
