| Baby giving the peace sign :) |
We went for our last ultrasound the other day, and it went well. The ultrasound tech said that the baby was very "sono-friendly," meaning that the baby would pose nicely, and we could get really good pictures of the different parts of the body. With each ultrasound, my due-date moves up slightly, due to their measuring. According to the calendar, my due date is Sept. 17th, but the latest ultrasound targeted Sept. 12th. I'm going to stick to telling people "mid-Sept.," since the due date doesn't really matter anyway. You can click on the pictures to make them bigger. The profile is a little distorted, since the baby had a hand up on the face during the picture.
The tech was really nice. I guess she has 4 sons, so she refers to all of the babies as "he." Since we didn't find out the gender, it was nice for her to tell us, so we didn't assume she was slipping up. It was also nice, since Jared was crying a little since he was bored, and she said that it didn't bother her at all. :) All morning, I told Jared that we were going to see the baby on TV, and he would go sit on our living room couch and look at our TV. When he actually saw the baby on TV, he wasn't impressed. The picture was black and white and grainy, and half of the time, I wasn't even really sure what I was looking at.
The baby was measuring well, weighs almost a pound, and is as long as a carrot, according to babycenter.com. I think the baby's entire weight is resting on my bladder, since I always seem to be running to the bathroom. I don't remember this happening with Jared until much later in the pregnancy.
Jared loves horses, so he really liked watching the Kentucky Derby on TV. He got to yell out "neigh!" a lot. He ran out of the room to retrieve a horse puzzle piece to have while he was watching TV. I was really impressed that he made that connection.
Steve's been taking care of the house - what a lot of work! We've been fighting ants, centipedes, moles, and carpenter bees. We bought a lawn mower, since the grassy area in our yard, while not very big, was too much to do by hand. I've been weeding, and trying to make the flower beds presentable (not embarrassing).
Happy Mother's Day to all of the Moms out there. I had no idea how much work this would be when I had Jared, and I have no idea how much extra work it will be when Baby #2 gets here, but I have never had so much fun or felt so rewarded for all of my work. Sure, this job doesn't come with a paycheck, but seeing Jared blossom and grow into the boy he is now is so wonderful! :)
